Aye Matey! The most well known Canadian renegade pirate of the 1000 Islands was "Pirate Bill Johnston." The Thousand Islands with its dangerous rock shoals and challenging channels, was an ideal retreat for this pirate who was a notorious smuggler and pillager.

PIRATE DAYS

July 11 until July 16

Gananoque goes to the Pirates with a Captain Jack Sparrow look-a-like contest, children's activities in Town Hall Park and at the Gananoque Boat Line docks. Friday July 15th join in the fun as the Pirates parade invades down town Gananoque. Saturday evening climb aboard for a Pirate Cruise of the 1000 Islands.
